Not Just Any Doorstep…

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

So, at the beginning of March I had an email from the lovely Charlotte Ward. Charlotte is a writer and was working on a Sex And The City article for Cosmopolitan magazine. She said she had found the photograph of me sat on the infamous stoop of Carrie Bradshaw’s humble abode and would like to write a small article about how I came about Carrie’s stoop – what happened before her stoop and what has happened since.

I was more than happy to oblige of course; so we had a telephone interview and that was that… Until the JUNE 2010 issue of Cosmopolitan magazine hit shelves this week of course;o

You can read the ‘Not Just Any Doorstep…’ article, by Charlotte Ward from page 121 onwards (I’m on page 122).

ENJOY!

(PS – Hands up who can’t wait for SATC 2?!)

The Sweet Smell Of… Shoes?

I would very much like James to buy these lovely Vivienne Westwood feet so I don’t have the embarrassment of him smelling all the Melissa shoe’s wherever we go!

We need money for moving to London! So look at this!

James literally bought this XBOX 360 Arcade console for the latest and greatest Grand Theft Auto release. He also bought Grand Theft Auto seperately. He’s selling both together as a neat package on eBay. He has completed GTA and subsequently has no need for this XBOX now (we’re not console players, apart from the Wii, but that doesn’t count!) So yeah, its ACTUALLY brand new!!

So please please PLEASE help us in our funding for our big bad move to the big bad smoke!

Clearly this package is well sought after, still! So get you bidding guns at the ready! [Please pass on the details of this auction to your family/friends/related parties! Thanks!]

Gok Wan’s Clothes Roadshow Hits Newcastle.

eee what a day we had yesterday!

well, I met my friend Christie at Monument (Newcastle) just to see what all the fuss was about really. Gok being Gok did not mind leaving the crowd waiting for 2 hours or whatever it was before walking through the crowd to the stage. The whole proceedings was meant to begin at midday, we got there at about 1.30. He went on stage for literally minutes and opened ‘registrations’. This is when the penny finally dropped… rofl.

-Gok Wan on stage at Monument, Newcastle – Photo by Claire Briston (www.clairebriston.com)

This whole sha-bang was a new Gok TV show, which was looking for a national ‘Style Icon’ for the UK. Men, women and children were invited to register. At this point we thought it was pointless to stick around, we didn’t want to register, nor did we want to walk the dreaded catwalk infront of hundreds of people! So we headed to Vivienne Westwood to have a peak at the new season stock. There was a massive crowd, of quite young children outside. but regardless, we went in. Gok was inside; being a little bit diva-ish. “Rich darling hold my remote”, “oh this simply isn’t right”. etc etc etc. I ordered a tee and we ended up walking out together. rofl. rather funny indeed.

Then we saw a few friends in the queue for walking the catwalk, they’d already registered. We said we’d hang about to watch them walk the catwalk.

Then Gok comes off the stages and walks past us with his camera. We sneered. He then turned round and asked James (my fiance) if he’d registered to walk the catwalk, and he laughed and said “nah mate”. Gok then grabbed our hands and wrote a “G” on it in a marker pen, and said “you are walking my catwalk, get to the front of the queue and get your polaroids taken!”. Anyone who knows my James knows he HATE famous people, not because theyre famous, but because they are normal people (allegedly). He hates the whole thing. He hates fuss. He hates ‘audience participation’ the most. So clearly when FORCED to do something like this, he was mortified…much to mine and christies hilarity. rofl.

So we start to fill out the registration forms, and then get asked to do an interview rofl. So we did. All of us speechless. I said THEE shittest things rofl. horrendous. CRINGE.

Then we had our polaroids taken, and shortly after had to walk the catwalk… horrific. I wouldn’t have minded if I’d had my heels on, walking the catwalk just isn’t natural in flats:'(

but hey-ho!

We then went for  a wander while Gok deliberated over the five semi-finalists.

We thought it would be absolutely hilarious if James won… then one by one Gok announces the finalists, and his reasons for why they were chosen. He kept looking our way when reading out the names… then he announces a ‘Jamie’, we automatically thought he’d got James’ name wrong (until he said the guys surname), I literally pissed myself laughing as the colour drained from James’ face. Then low and behold, the final name called out is James Hill. ha. I creased over. hilarious. absolutely hilarious.

The 5 finalists then had to walk the catwalk once again before the winner, whom would go to the London heat, was announced.

James, much to his relief, didnt win. A 33 year old lady won. She was lovely. So everyone was smiles.

I then had another interview backstage about how i ‘felt’. rofl.

And that was the day that was.

The show should be aired around mid-June. So keep your eyes peeled!

The Shoe Project: Can’t afford the Vivienne Westwood Pirate Boots??? Alas, A Cheaper Solution!

WELL I never!

Despite TOPSHOP phasing out their boots for the arrival of the Spring/Summer 08, I found the (below) horrendously similar pair of Vivienne’s signature Pirate Boots on the TOPSHOP website a few days ago…

-Side Buckle Boot in Taupe, TOPSHOP.com, £85.00

-Original Vivienne Westwood Pirate Boots, £295.00

I spoke to my manager and we don’t anticipate getting these boots in-store now, since we haven’t had any deliveries of boots for a good few weeks now – but in saying that we’ve said we wouldn’t get the SINNITA shoes back in (in the OFF WHITE), yet in my delivery yesterday were 17 pairs no less! The day previous, we received the below, ‘Dove Grey’ version, which have sold really quickly already. So who knows, these stores may be available in your local store, luck you if they are! If you do manage to get a pair from Topshop, you’ll find a massive saving of, £210!! Not bad for doing abit of research eh? ;o See more info in my previous post, Vivienne Westwood Pirate Boots.

-Dove Grey colour SINNITA’s, £65.

You can purchase the Vivienne Westwood Pirate Boots from both instore and online at http://www.hervia.com.

The Shoe Project.

I will endeavor through “The Shoe Project” posts reveal my love for the beauty and magic of SHOES!

Now I really never used to be a ‘shoe person’, not in the slightest and despite working on the Shoe Dept in Topshop for a living! But hey-ho, I’m now a full blown obsessive! I fear that my Sex and The City girls are half to blame for that! Damn you Carrie Bradshaw!

So with that in mind, I will be displaying the beautiful shoes I currently own and love, and the shoes I’m destined to totter around in, the shoes that are the fashion statement to an outfit, and the shoes ofcourse that will be on my infamous ‘to buy’ list; but I doubt I’ll ever be able to afford!

Up until, say a year ago, I wore my heels occassionally, mostly for a meal or a good nights worth of dancing.

Infact, once over I didn’t own a pair of heels, now thats all I own! And thank the lord for the invention! I’m a petite 5 foot something or other (ahem), and hey I need all the height I can get – my justification behind the recent purchase of my perfect Purple RIVA2’s 🙂

So onwards, and dare I say it… upwards!

“Touch Wood” Necklace by Vivienne Westwood, worn by ME!

As I said in my previous post (click HERE!! ), the brand new “Touch Wood” necklace was made for me! I’m beyond superstitious these days and this necklace is just perfect – however, it was placed at the top of my “to buy” list ready for pay-day!

But James being James, met me after work as a surprise and took me straight to the Newcastle Vivienne Westwood store to have a look at the necklace – and there and then I fell in love with it! (as did James). So without further a do we made the purchase!:D I believe it’s Limited Edition aswell, so I’m rather glad loads of people won’t be wearing it and it will indeed remain special to me:)

All in al, a good purchase I feel!
