Not Just Any Doorstep…

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

So, at the beginning of March I had an email from the lovely Charlotte Ward. Charlotte is a writer and was working on a Sex And The City article for Cosmopolitan magazine. She said she had found the photograph of me sat on the infamous stoop of Carrie Bradshaw’s humble abode and would like to write a small article about how I came about Carrie’s stoop – what happened before her stoop and what has happened since.

I was more than happy to oblige of course; so we had a telephone interview and that was that… Until the JUNE 2010 issue of Cosmopolitan magazine hit shelves this week of course;o

You can read the ‘Not Just Any Doorstep…’ article, by Charlotte Ward from page 121 onwards (I’m on page 122).

ENJOY!

(PS – Hands up who can’t wait for SATC 2?!)

James literally bought this XBOX 360 Arcade console for the latest and greatest Grand Theft Auto release. He also bought Grand Theft Auto seperately. He’s selling both together as a neat package on eBay. He has completed GTA and subsequently has no need for this XBOX now (we’re not console players, apart from the Wii, but that doesn’t count!) So yeah, its ACTUALLY brand new!!

So please please PLEASE help us in our funding for our big bad move to the big bad smoke!

Clearly this package is well sought after, still! So get you bidding guns at the ready! [Please pass on the details of this auction to your family/friends/related parties! Thanks!]

Gok Wan’s Clothes Roadshow Hits Newcastle.

eee what a day we had yesterday!

well, I met my friend Christie at Monument (Newcastle) just to see what all the fuss was about really. Gok being Gok did not mind leaving the crowd waiting for 2 hours or whatever it was before walking through the crowd to the stage. The whole proceedings was meant to begin at midday, we got there at about 1.30. He went on stage for literally minutes and opened ‘registrations’. This is when the penny finally dropped… rofl.

-Gok Wan on stage at Monument, Newcastle – Photo by Claire Briston (www.clairebriston.com)

This whole sha-bang was a new Gok TV show, which was looking for a national ‘Style Icon’ for the UK. Men, women and children were invited to register. At this point we thought it was pointless to stick around, we didn’t want to register, nor did we want to walk the dreaded catwalk infront of hundreds of people! So we headed to Vivienne Westwood to have a peak at the new season stock. There was a massive crowd, of quite young children outside. but regardless, we went in. Gok was inside; being a little bit diva-ish. “Rich darling hold my remote”, “oh this simply isn’t right”. etc etc etc. I ordered a tee and we ended up walking out together. rofl. rather funny indeed.

Then we saw a few friends in the queue for walking the catwalk, they’d already registered. We said we’d hang about to watch them walk the catwalk.

Then Gok comes off the stages and walks past us with his camera. We sneered. He then turned round and asked James (my fiance) if he’d registered to walk the catwalk, and he laughed and said “nah mate”. Gok then grabbed our hands and wrote a “G” on it in a marker pen, and said “you are walking my catwalk, get to the front of the queue and get your polaroids taken!”. Anyone who knows my James knows he HATE famous people, not because theyre famous, but because they are normal people (allegedly). He hates the whole thing. He hates fuss. He hates ‘audience participation’ the most. So clearly when FORCED to do something like this, he was mortified…much to mine and christies hilarity. rofl.

So we start to fill out the registration forms, and then get asked to do an interview rofl. So we did. All of us speechless. I said THEE shittest things rofl. horrendous. CRINGE.

Then we had our polaroids taken, and shortly after had to walk the catwalk… horrific. I wouldn’t have minded if I’d had my heels on, walking the catwalk just isn’t natural in flats:'(

but hey-ho!

We then went for  a wander while Gok deliberated over the five semi-finalists.

We thought it would be absolutely hilarious if James won… then one by one Gok announces the finalists, and his reasons for why they were chosen. He kept looking our way when reading out the names… then he announces a ‘Jamie’, we automatically thought he’d got James’ name wrong (until he said the guys surname), I literally pissed myself laughing as the colour drained from James’ face. Then low and behold, the final name called out is James Hill. ha. I creased over. hilarious. absolutely hilarious.

The 5 finalists then had to walk the catwalk once again before the winner, whom would go to the London heat, was announced.

James, much to his relief, didnt win. A 33 year old lady won. She was lovely. So everyone was smiles.

I then had another interview backstage about how i ‘felt’. rofl.

And that was the day that was.

The show should be aired around mid-June. So keep your eyes peeled!

ALLSAINTS – Kensington Tan Large Leather Handbag.

I absolutely adore this bag:) It was my first big splurge out on a handbag, costing £140. I say I splurged out, I should say James forked out for it:)

It’s actually grown better with age – as do most Leather totes, but this one especially just looks more and more wondrous with every trip out to the outside world.

The leather now looks really vintagey and worn in; I constantly receive comments about its graciousness! I definitely think it looks way more expensive than it was; clearly a good first investment!

My only problem? The bag is HUGE! I struggle to fill it, its that big! Therefore, when trying to overfill your massive bag, said bag becomes extremely heavy, thus taking a massive toll on my very petite shoulders! gah, the things we do for vanity eh??!

Take a look at the ALL SAINTS website for their current collection. www.allsaints.co.uk

My very first London Interview.

So on Monday (18th), I traveled all the way back down to London, again, this time by an all expenses paid train. A very early start again though, had to get up at 4.45am! horrendous!

James walked to the station to wave me off, I was distraught, I REALLY don’t know how people do those ‘long distance relationships’. I felt absolutely heartbroken. But this is by the by.

I arrived in Kings Cross, armed with my Oyster Card, at 10.50am. I had a wander round Oxford Circus, had some lunch… and then headed to Great Castle St for my interview!

It began with a briefing… and then a group exercise, which I surprisingly enjoyed! Then a face-to-face interview. I was told it would last no longer than 10 minutes… 25 minutes later we’re still talking!!

So from my point of view it went really well. I was pleased with my performance any road! I was told I’d hear within 5 working days… so I’m hoping by the end of tomorrow I should know, but it’ll be Monday at the latest I’m guessing!

I met up with Kelly again, we had a Starbucks, and then I had a mad dash to Kings Cross again! WHERE I was RUDELY blanked by an ex-tutor from Northumbria. I don’t suppose she’d want to speak to anyone off our course ever again to be fair though! Out of her own embarrassment and lack of respect you understand.

I haven’t heard back from any of the other places yet. sadly:(

So fingers crossed! I shall keep thee updated!

Long time no types…

Once again, it has been a very very long time since I last typed on here. DESPITE making the New Years resolution to keep up with it. I fail. However, I begin a new slate, again, and vow to keep this blog up to date with my career prospects, plans, adventure etc… anything I believe someone else may benefit from… anything I think I will benefit from I suppose!

WELL, a quick update from October to the present day, Monday 11th February…

OCTOBER 2007.

James and I visited our beautiful capital city once again and as always had a whale of a time. Lots of drunken stumbles, especially down the stairs of London Bridge Tube for instance! We had a fantabulous time at the Queens of Noizes’ clubnight, Smash & Grab @ Punk; danced away with Steffi, then went to her DJ night at Jodie Harsh’s Circus on the Friday in SoHo. We then came home to Halloween and made magical pumpkins.

NOVEMBER 2007.

Bonfire Night was great. We had Lori & Zak and Christie & Adam round for fireworks and drinks and BBQ food. We had hilarious sparklers and silly fountain fireworks! Not long after Bonfire Night we couldn’t resist getting our wonderful Christmas Tree and decorations out, so by the 2nd week of November we had an official Christmas House once again…. well, the shops had theirs up in September! So we were well and truly in the Christmas spirit! On the 23rd, Kelly Leoine Young and myself went to see Babyshambles at the Metro Radio Arena, I got a Press Pass and died on the spot. I was horrendous to say the least!

DECEMBER 2007.

December 3rd saw the annual Topshop Christmas Party carnage, this year we pwnd the Quayside. There were tears and tantrums, mental dancing, and I ruined my beautiful taffeta dress:'( boo! (that reminds me, I must get to the drycleaners!) December ofcourse brings the Christmas shopping

rush… working in Topshop, each day just gets busier and busier and busier and it doesn’t ever calm till Feb! honest! So the rest of December was spent working my feet off on my Shoe Dept. We had an early Christmas at home, which was lovely. We had a huuuuuge Christmas shop and overfilled the fridge and cupboards with lots of lovely Marksee’s food:) yum yum yum. We both gained a stone each, horrendous, but clearly well worth it! hehe.

-Me and our lovely Christmas Tree; Christmas Day 2007.

The 27th saw the launch of the VIVIENNE WESTWOOD Sale! and Hurrah my bag, the bag I’ve been wanting since summer was in the Sale! So with me being at silly work, James went along with Christie and Adam to get in the queue super early, afterall, there was ONE bag left! my nerves were frayed and tensions ran high! BUT they were at the very front of the queue and James darted straight for my bag, and in turn, made a girl cry, HA at her;P

my beaut of a bag!

Then, finally, on Saturday the 29th December came our trip to Paris; and, a day that has changed the rest of my life, for the better you understand. We had a really romantic wander around the city, initially to familiarise ourselves with our new surroundings. We then went for a beautiful meal in a proper parisian restaurant just off the Champs Ellysee’s. When James asked me what i REALLY wanted to do next, and I said I REALLY wanted to see the Eiffel Tower now it was dark:) So we wandered along, taking in the amazing streets and culture. When we got to the Tour De Eiffel, James looked ‘shifty’, but said he had a ‘dodgy tummy’, and to carry on taking pictures of him underneath the Eiffel Tower… me not noticing that he was indeed ‘biding his time’. He had been checking his watching every couple of seconds and I asked why? He said he was worried about getting back to the hotel, despite it being only 9.55pm! Then at the strike of 10pm, the Eiffel Tower did its special sparkle, I was speechless, then I looked down, James was on bended knee was the most perfect ring ever in his hand. I was gobsmacked to say the VERY least! Though I had gone on about engaging more than enough, I was totally taken aback. I really hadn’t thought he’d propose there and then, but it was the most perfect setting, and the most perfect scenario. JUST US. Just how I’d always imagined. He’d bloody surprised me and I couldnt do anything but grab on to him for our dear lives and cry my eyes out beyond! ha. We most have looked hilarious. So yeah, I am now a very taken lady:)

-Dayout at Disneyland Paris!

So we went New Years Eve under the Eiffel Tower and on the banks of the Seine, we ended up on a tube halfway across France, and had to walk allllll the way back. Horrendous. Then came back to a very wintery England. BRRRR! But alas, it’s STILL never sodding snowed! depressed beyond!

JANUARY 2007.

Not alot happened really, Kelly embarked on her London adventure, sadly:( But not before I did a commissioned Photoshoot for the Jo Anderson Salon in Hexham, with her lovely self and her beau, Peter. I took pictures of each of them individually, and a set of them together for the salon’s Christmas Cards (???!) The pictures are going to be blown up into posters for the graphics on the shop frontage, and for canvasses inside. Additionally, John, the owner, has sent the CD’s to the PR company in Leeds to distribute into notorious Hair Magazines Nationally and possibly Internationally! (woo indeed!!) Furthermore, into February now, I’ve had several Interviews for very exciting places, places I cant speak about for the time being, not until I hear more at least. But one place I will speak of is my interview for the Topshop Graduate Buyers Scheme! I had a telephone interview after my application being successful. I was then asked for a face-to-face interview at the Assessment Centre there and then on the phone. My interview is on Monday 18th, and I’m rather scared! But it’s very exciting and it would be wonderful to go to the Big Smoke in summer with a job under my belt, and guaranteed cash! good cash at that.

BUT my most exciting adventure this week will be to sodding LONDON FASHION WEEK! I cant believe it, finally, I’ve manage to blag my way in, and I WILL blog about it upon my return. I set off tomorrow evening with Jennifer on the megabus, and I’m staying with Kelly in Shoreditch, so excited! What a place to begin my networking, and my path to the BIG MOVE.

I’ve been writing for a while now, and James is getting irritable, so I’ll leave it here for now and big up where I left tomorrow. I promise more writing from now on, and thats a pledge.
