Kate Moss for TOPSHOP S/S 09.

Well, this is my final Kate Moss for Topshop collection and I have to say it’s probably the busiest one I’ve ever launched! The product was ‘ok’. The Liberty London prints being the high light of course, but the rest of the collection seemed more A/W than S/S! There is a distinct lack of summery dresses and ‘holiday-gear’. But we were assured that there will be more summery clothes and bikini’s and the like for the High Summer launch!

Firstly, I have to point out the graphics for this launch. Whilst, I absolutely love the graphics, there is some computer ‘distortion’ which caused no end of confusion, and to be honest, a lack in sales of some items as they appeared different colours in the graphics to real life.

Liberty London Poppy Print Bandeau Dress, £65.00

As you can see between the graphic and the actual dress, there is a massive colour difference. Many people were put off by how blue this dress was… which is massively unfortunate. I actually really love this dress; but be aware, they do come up very small, might be wiser to go a size larger when purchasing. This poppy print was the most youthful of the Liberty prints, it also comes in a camisole. The other two Liberty prints are below, the one on the left is the Kate Nouveau print which was also splashed over a bag (£55) and waistcoat and camisole (£35). The beautiful whimsical print on the right is the Lilabell Print which is my personal favourite. The print was delicately scattered onto a 70s inspired tunic dress (£85), camisole (£40) and of course, the star-piece, the £280 maxi dress with supreme frill detail. The Lilabell print being the most expensive of all the fabrics in the collection.

Not only was it the UK Kate Moss Launch on Thursday 2nd April, it was also the Topshop/Topman NEW YORK launch; which Kate attended, wearing a few of the designs from the collection…

Stripe Flower Dress, £60.00

Green Maxi Dress, £120.00.

Also, this collection debuted her line of Lingerie. This included to sets of separates; a lace black bra and bottoms and striped flowered set, and the below ‘lace body’; which absolutely flew off the shelves!

Lace Body Suit, £30.00.

The Liberty Print items are all Limited Edition so if your local store holds these items, you’ll be best off snapping a piece up! They’ll be collectors items in years to come! PLUS super investment pieces for your wardrobe to boot! ;o

One Week Today…

In one week today I’ll be having an early night in preparation of my very first day at All Saints Head Office!

So the final countdown begins!

VERY VERY much looking forward to this time next week; especially after the awful weekend I had at Topshop! FAR FAR too busy! And explain to me why customers feel the need to be absolute horrors?! Constantly?! I could be more descriptive there; but to tell the truth, I daren’t because I’ll end up getting beyond angry! And its just not worth it;o

At least I have the pleasure of knowing I won’t be dealing with it much longer – just 5 shifts longer! woo!

In other news… my final KATE MOSS for TOPSHOP launch is this Thursday 2nd April. Lot’s of lovely pieces, including a collaboration with the amazing Liberty.

I am the Casual Trousers Specialist at Topshop 214, Oxford Street.

As off 2 weeks ago I became the Casual Trousers Specialist at the Topshop flagship store at London’s famous Oxford Circus. At first glance it sounds quite boring… but alas, it is not!

I look at the daily/weekly figures, mess about with the VM on the shopfloor, look at new lines; and every Thursday morning I get an important visit from Head Office who come and look at the floor and my stock room and my figures. I don’t suppose I can indulge in my sales plans/targets etc but I can tell you that in my first few days I was already +48% on the week previous, by the end of that week I had smashed my plan for £11,000! Which is crazy money! Recession? What recession?! heh. The week ending Saturday 24th January my Casual Trousers dept had ended a massive +66% on plan. So I’m really happy.

SO! What does Casual Trousers (code 16) consist of?

– Jogging bottoms – Long/Short.

-Leggings – every single legging possible!

-Hareem Pants – Jersey/Cotton.

– Tapered Leg Trousers – Cotton/The more formal trouser we hold for the dept.

The leggings are what’s really driving the sales at the moment; and its not difficult to see why! We have so much choice at the moment, it must make shopping for you lot very difficult indeed!

27th November 2008, The day I helped out Kate Moss and Jamie Hince on the KATE MOSS dept!

This photograph was taken as Kate Moss and boyfriend, Jamie Hince, walked into the Maternity entrance to our TOPSHOP flagship store, on Regent Street in London. They then walked down the escalators and wandered around the floor picking up bits and pieces… before coming over to my Kate Moss department; which may I add, I was damned to move away from until she had walked over. Then when she did I was actually shaking like a leaf, knee’s knocking together, sweaty palms. haha.

I grabbed her a few tops and a cardigan, which she politely took and popped into her basket. She was smiley, chatty and witty. More down to earth than I could ever have imagined! Jamie was just as lovely, offering a polite, “you alright” to me whilst Kate held one of her own dresses up. ROFL. Very funny. I’d love to have the CCTV footage!

So all-in-all, I was very impressed with Kate’s demenour. She looked amazing. TOTALLY in proportion. Not skinny, not gaunt, not scruffy. JUST NICE. And to be honest, better than I could have dreamed:)

KATE MOSS For TOPSHOP And Liberty Prints Collaboration Extravagranza!

So for the S/S 09 collaboration between Topshop and Kate Moss, they genius Topshop team have roped in Liberty to create some of their unique pretty prints for dresses and underwear and swimwear. Although, I feel this last collection has probably been the best collection since the very first S/S 07 collection, the range still needed that boost, and Liberty are definitely going to give Kate’s collection that much needed edge and wow factor!

I have to also mention, that last week a totally embroided blazer (£100) came into 214. I was utterly confused as the blazer had came in unannounced, it had not been in any of the press releases/graphics, and we only got a handful…. I rang Branch Merch, as I thought it could possibly be for S/S 09. I got confirmation that it was indeed supposed to put onto the floor, merchandised within the current collection. HOWEVER, after reading up on the S/S 09 collection and collaboration moreover, I definitely feel this blazer is supposed to be part of the S/S 09 capsule! SO I would advise you all to head to 214 and grab it before it sells out… and more importantly, have it before everyone else next season!

Bringing you up to date…

Now i’ve finally got a few internet related jobs out the way I can bring you up to date with the moving to London and recent events.

So we moved to London on 4th August and now I feel like a fully fledged London resident. I love it so much. No two days are the same… apart from when your working at TOPSHOP 214 (the flagship)! I know it’s only for a few more weeks until I head to head office to be a Buyer; but still it drags and I’ve basically had to go a step backwards to what I was doing in Newcastle. It is abit annoying, and rather frustrating at times – but to be honest, I was doing far more than my role required in Newcastle, and much more than I should have been doing for the wage I was on! horrendous! So in a way, I suppose its ok really… I’m only doing what is required of my role (and abit more considering I’m able…) and I’m being paid £1.50 more than I was in Newcastle! Tomorrow however, I’m taking responsibility for the floor and my massive team as part of my Standards of Performance book. eek. It is quite frightening mind; I’ve only been there for like 5 weeks so I’m worried about stepping on peoples toes. But its good that they’re being so encouraging and supportive; especially since they are aware I’m moving up to Head Office! It began to feel like I was being left out in the cold in Newcastle because I was moving to London; instead of pushing me through my books quicker, so I was being sent to a new store (nevermind the sodding flagship!) at the level I deserve to be at… hmmm.

Moving swiftly on ofcourse, I mentioned about my move to Head Office, well, I’m in the final stages of the Buyers position at TOPMAN. I have my final interview at the end of this week! So fingers crossed for that! I’m just desperate to get started! It’ll be so exciting! Fit sessions, Sample sessions, working with suppliers and designers and merchandisers! Doing Comp Shops and trend spotting! exciting stuff! and not to mention its 9-5! I factually cannot wait at all. And well, the actual salary is a bonus too!

AND to top it off, as soon as I’ve had my first wage from Head Office James is taking me to Chanel on New Bond Street to buy my 2.55 bag!! AMAZING! I am going to be ecstatic for the rest of the month! haha.

Think thats about it really, apart from the amount of celebrities I’ve been ever so blaise with this week! Firstly we had Nicole Scherzinger of Pussy Cat Doll fame (and Lewis Hamiltons other half) in my Kate Moss dept… whom I spoke to and didnt even realise who she was! rofl. “No I’m fine thanks! I’m with a style advisor!” rofl. Then James Brown (Hair stylist to and best friend of Kate Moss herself), who was working in our store this week for fashion week says he likes my hair and that it suits my ‘complexion’. Cheers mate!

BUT the very best has to be Mischa Barton (The O.C) on Friday afternoon! I was on the end till and she came over asking for shopping bags, I actually made her wait while I finished my transaction! oops! she was absolutely lovely though! much nicer than I ever would have imagined! we had a chat and she went on shopping, without a style advisor or body guard in sight;o the way it should be to be honest!

So yeah thats about it, the wife is due in from his hard day at work, so I’m going to cook up a storm in the kitchen!

Farewell,

Ms. Judy Pink.
