James literally bought this XBOX 360 Arcade console for the latest and greatest Grand Theft Auto release. He also bought Grand Theft Auto seperately. He’s selling both together as a neat package on eBay. He has completed GTA and subsequently has no need for this XBOX now (we’re not console players, apart from the Wii, but that doesn’t count!) So yeah, its ACTUALLY brand new!!

So please please PLEASE help us in our funding for our big bad move to the big bad smoke!

Clearly this package is well sought after, still! So get you bidding guns at the ready! [Please pass on the details of this auction to your family/friends/related parties! Thanks!]

‘Floral Frocks’ Collection by OASIS.

I came across this collection in a local magazine recently. Well, I saw the below, amazing, ‘Lily Lane’ dress and searched and searched and searched and searched for it’s stockist… and I couldn’t find it anywhere! I’d also been into a local Oasis store, spoke to the manager, who opened up her ‘style file’, and the dress wasn’t anywhere to be seen. So I rang several other local stores, and low and behold, nobody knew anything about the collection, or my beautiful ‘Lily Lane’ dress! I say mine, because one day soon it will be:D SO the search went on…until I finally came across an article outlining the collection.

Firstly, the collection is due to touch down in stores, and online, ‘mid summer’, so who knows when that will be! (If you have any idea, please do let me know!).

-“Lily Lane”, 50s Prom Dress, £80.00, by OASIS.

All of the frocks are vintage inspired but designed with a contemporary twist; with the original inspiration coming from the Museum of Fashion Bath Spa.

-“Rose Riley” Bandeau Dress, £80.00

-“Violet Valentine” Sun Dress, £UNKNOWN.

-“Poppy Parker Jones” Sun Dress, £UNKNOWN.

All the dresses are simply charming, and rather beautiful indeed. The latter 2 ofcourse, are fabulous for hiding lumps and bumps. I’m definitely going to be buying the first two:D One for James’ Graduation, and the other for a friends wedding in July – perfect.

Until the collection launches, I thought the below offering from Oasis at the moment was really pretty; so feminine and flattering; but too long for little old me!

-Floral Print Rose Corsage Dress, from Oasis, £80.00

My only concern is that Oasis’ dresses are creeping up in cost! Since when was a pretty frock£80? scandalous! I will however dip into my purse for the two aforementioned, they are really nice afterall!

The Shoe Project.

I will endeavor through “The Shoe Project” posts reveal my love for the beauty and magic of SHOES!

Now I really never used to be a ‘shoe person’, not in the slightest and despite working on the Shoe Dept in Topshop for a living! But hey-ho, I’m now a full blown obsessive! I fear that my Sex and The City girls are half to blame for that! Damn you Carrie Bradshaw!

So with that in mind, I will be displaying the beautiful shoes I currently own and love, and the shoes I’m destined to totter around in, the shoes that are the fashion statement to an outfit, and the shoes ofcourse that will be on my infamous ‘to buy’ list; but I doubt I’ll ever be able to afford!

Up until, say a year ago, I wore my heels occassionally, mostly for a meal or a good nights worth of dancing.

Infact, once over I didn’t own a pair of heels, now thats all I own! And thank the lord for the invention! I’m a petite 5 foot something or other (ahem), and hey I need all the height I can get – my justification behind the recent purchase of my perfect Purple RIVA2’s 🙂

So onwards, and dare I say it… upwards!

The Sunday Sun – 08.10.2006

Dazzled by the brights.

By Claire Briston, The Sunday Sun.

With the nights drawing in and that autumn chill in the air, this week we focus on the all-important winter coat.

Just because the colder weather is becoming more frequent, it doesn’t mean that you have to revert to dull blacks. Cheer up your wardrobe with some vibrant colour that is awash on the high street this season.

With yellow, purple and vibrant red you really can stand out in the crowd this winter.

Topshop is always quick off the mark and has a fantastic range of functional, yet fashion-led coats available now. Their acid yellow coat is an absolute must-have as the 1960s trend continues this season.

Left - 1950s-style coat £90, from Warehouse. Roll neck £35, from French Connection. Leather bag £70, from Topshop. Right - Black ribbed coat £160, from French Connection. Jumper-dress £50, from Warehouse. Cord cap £12, from Oasis. Scarf £16, grey tights £6, both from Topshop. Crocs boots £34.99, from Office.

If you prefer a tamer coat, then take a peak at the bow detail fitted one with cropped sleeves which is also available in cerise. Just like the shorter coral, caped jacket, this one is perfect for those milder days.

If you just want a simple cosy coat you will be able to team with anything, then how about the black ribbed design from French Connection? It’s functional, smart and perfect for brightening up with accessories.

Or you could head to Warehouse for one of their 1950s-style coats. To jazz up a plain one, add a splash of colour with a thick leather belt, like the teal one featured.

Oasis and Topshop have a great collection of woolly hats and berets. Oasis stock their design with a detachable brooch, so you can show it off on your hat or pin it to your cardigan.

Be ultra chic and very Kate Moss this winter with some vibrant gloves or quirky mitts. They’re eye-catching and extremely practical!

Left - 1960s-style coat £95, from Topshop. Red woollen hat £12, from Warehouse. Purple tights £6, red bag £22, both from Oasis. Crocs boots £34.99, from Office. Right - blue bow-detail coat £95, fuchsia footless tights £5, both from Topshop. Pink jumper £35, from Warehouse.

The Sunday Sun – 24.09.2006

Animal Crackers!

By Claire Briston, The Sunday Sun

Laura Lee printed blouse £32, red leopard print T-shirt £16, black shorts £25, black tights £6, necklace £18, all Topshop.

We take a walk on the wild side with animal print this week as we dash back to the high street.

It’s easy to go over the top with animal prints and some people badly replicate that “Bette Lynch” look. So we’ve teamed numerous items together to give a more stylish take on the trend.

Black leggings £18, FCUK. Knit dress £40, Oasis. Gold cardigan £35, Warehouse. Print knit top £30, Red. Reptile skin belt £15, Necklace £12, all at Topshop.

If animal print seems a little daunting at first try something simple like the knit dress from Oasis with a faded print top underneath like the Topshop one pictured.

Reptile skin and animal print belts and accessories are a good way to ease you into the trend too.

There are plenty of belts available in stores to choose from, so whether you opt for the thick red reptile skin belt or the thinner replica zebra skin belt you are bound to stop people in their tracks.

Light Baxter jeans £40, Topshop. Sleeveless polo neck £25, Warehouse. Leopard print coat £95, reptile skin belt £25, brooch £7, ring £12, reptile skin bag £25, all Oasis.

Purses, bags and especially ballet pumps are a step in the right direction also. Wearing a simple plain outfit with a splash of leopard print to the feet just lifts the look and seams together effortlessly. The reptile print Warehouse clutch bags look really swanky, great for a special engagement.

For so long leopard print has been tarnished as “tacky”, however, Laura Lee’s take on the print looks wonderfully flattering. The dress is ultra feminine and sports Laura’s distinctive embroidery, which gives the dress a unique alternative style. Laura Lee’s leopard print autumn collection was designed exclusively for Topshop . . . however the range is limited edition so get to your local store ASAP!

Left-right: Skinny leg trousers £38, orange cardigan £32, charm necklace £14, all Oasis. Laura Lee dress £45, Topshop. Teal belt £14, Warehouse; Tweed pinafore £55, black sleeveless roll neck £25, Warehouse. Leopard print cardigan £35, black tights £6, both Topshop; Leopard print sleeveless top £30. Plum footless tights £6, both Warehouse. Black pencil skirt £40, Oasis. Laura Lee blouse £32. Purple belt £20, both Topshop.

The Oasis leopard print coat is this season’s must have. The jacket is oh so stylish (plus very warm!) and looks great with slim cut jeans and a roll neck jumper underneath. So be brave and go wild this season with a little touch of animal magic!

The Sunday Sun – 13.08.2006.

Prints charming.

By Claire Briston, The Sunday Sun.

L-r: Red silk print dress £55 from Warehouse and red footless tights £5 from Topshop; Green print dress £40, hat £12, chain necklace, £8, matching bracelet £5, all at Topshop; Flower print dress £45, Laura Lee, charm necklace £22 both at Topshop.

The progression from summer to autumn is always a difficult one however, the high street is already in a spin over autumn’s new arrivals.

New on the peg is an array of slim cut empire-line dresses, with a wild variety of feminine fits, prints and wonderful fabrics to choose from . . . it’s easy to see why we’re going to be spoilt for choice in the coming months!

Animal print fabrics are back with vengeance. I particularly adore the Warehouse leopard print, silk number in at a demure £55.

This classic cut and print will be far longer lasting than just the transition between autumn and winter . . . an investment to any fashionista’s wardrobe.

Again, TopShop is quick off the mark this season incorporating vintage style prints and fabrics into their full range.

Big bows and ribbon details to the waist slim a figure and emphasise curves in their dress design offerings.

Coloured tights and leggings are, of course, another must have that look great teamed with dresses, and essential to autumn/winter trends.

L-r: Animal print silk dress £55, bracelet £14, black clutch bag £16, all Warehouse, black knee-high tights £6, Topshop, black cap £25, FCUK, animal print heels £54.99 at Office; Tropical print dress £40, green bag £22, both Oasis, dull red beads £10, bright red beads £10, leggings £12, all at Topshop; Black Broderie Anglaise silk dress £65 from Warehouse, purple belt £20 from Topshop, watch £50, Oasis.

Although the skinny fit jeans and trousers are going to play a focal role within the more tailored trends, leggings can be dressed up or down and bridge the gap between our sunnier summery days and our chillier drizzly days.

Stacked platforms and contrastingly, ballet pumps, again take centre stage, along with clutch leather handbags and unique jewellery to finish that look completely.
