My New Favourite Design House: HALSTON HERITAGE.

Legendary American label Halston launched its hip diffusion line in 2009, and has since garnered a cult following amongst style-setters like Sarah Jessica Parker and Chloë Sevigny. The epitome of Studio 54 glamour, Halston Heritage evokes the brand’s timeless appeal reinventing archive pieces into effortlessly elegant silhouettes. Do like the original high-living Halstonettes, Bianca Jagger and Anjelica Huston and get retro-chic in asymmetric jersey dresses paired with oversized totes and clutches in silver, orange and cerulean.

Emma Watson And People Tree.

So what can’t Emma Watson do?

She’s a fully fledged filmstar, model and now has dabbled in fashion design by working alongside Fair Trade pioneer, People Tree.

While Emma has held her hands up and said she’s no designer, “I’m so pleased that I got involved, but I don’t want to take all the credit for being the designer because I haven’t trained as a designer or even gone to art college – in fact, I had no idea about the amount of work involved at the outset!”.

It’s admirable that she’s doing it for all the good reasons ‘celebrities’ should collaborate with fashion houses. She states in a recent interview, “Oh, I don’t have any plans to be a designer. I’m doing this range because I really care about fair-trade and ethical fashion…. I didn’t want this collection to be all about me. This is not a celebrity endorsement, it is about creating something that is genuinely a great idea and about making a difference through fashion.

Take a look at the collection below – even her model brother, Alex joined in the fun!

What do you make of Emma’s fashion endorsement?

ALLSAINTS: How Pretty is…

…the Mad Paradise print!?! This print is screen printed onto dresses, tops, t-shirts even AllSaints Childrenswear and Beachwear! The print is made up of hand drawn ink illustrations of a paradise garden of prehistoric birds and botanicals; inspired by antique vintage Audubon paintings.

I absolutely love it. I think it’s a really nice alternative to aztec prints, skulls and crossbones 🙂

London Fashion Week Round-Up: DAY FOUR.

London Fashion Week A/W 2009.

DAY FOUR: Monday 23rd February 2009.

So today saw the catwalk shows of Giles, Ossie Clark, Julien Macdonald, Luella, Erdem, Jasper Conran, Marios Schwab, Paul Smith and Louise Goldin… and does Jourdan Dunn just walk for EVERYONE now? She definitely is in massive demand! And why not?! Good on her I say!

It was love at first sight with Ossie Clark‘s A/W offering. Keeping to the Ossie Clark signature 60s/70s style Avsh Alom Gur (Creative Director) has given, what I feel, the nicest, most wearable and ‘lovliest’ collection of the season. It’s a very “me” collection. I found it very difficult to whittle down all the images to the ones above, but I feel the ones above best represent the Autumn/Winter trend. Towards the end of the showcase we see a rather ‘bridal’ inspired few items which really intrigued me. Particularly love the last image above; this would just look wonderful worn by a modern bride wanting a vintage inspired gown. The collection utilises soft uncomplicated prints adorned onto pussy bow dresses and bell-bottomed jumpsuits. Think it’s safe to safe thick white tights are definitely going to be a big trend for A/W. Great! Love my white tights! Again, burnt orange is the flavour of the season with the colour splashed onto feminine blouses and caped coats. The rest of the colour palette looks at slatey blues, mustard and burgundy.

GILES.

picture-17

I was left quite disappointed with the Giles Deacon collection. I really thought it would have been a more ‘wearable’ and a more commercial collection to coincide with the looming recession. Clearly he wanted to go the other way, and again, fight against the recession by producing a very art influenced A/W showcase. I cannot help but think this collection is inspired by 80’s Vogue (see the head gear) and creatures from beneath the sea however? Please do correct me if I’m wrong though! The last two images (above) are very reminiscent of a particular fish – a blow fish! Strange? Suppose not considering it is Giles, afterall. The big ‘rocket’ costume thing? What is that about? I mean, there is quirky, and plain stupid. C’mon Giles! There were one or two garments which were nice, and I do take a fancy to the ‘butterfly’ print seen on trousers and flowing dresses. But unfortunately, I have to say, thats were my ‘fancy’ ended.

Luella.

– My fave outfit of the collection.

– Pixie Geldof walks for Luella Bartley.

picture-20

I quite enjoyed Luella‘s showcase. Enjoyed seeing Pixie Geldof walk confidently; it’s so refreshing to see a ‘normal’ sized non-model walk the catwalk. She looked really good! The collection was half military inspired with tweed and studding, and the usual Luella Tee’s cropped up. There were some opulent gold fabrics also used, but my favourite pieces were the more heritage fabrics and I loved the boyfriend blazer coat (first image). Also, absolutely adored the whole outfit which I’ve highlighed above. Love love love the tweed panelled skirt with t-shirt combo and puffer jacket to finish. Again, another ‘me’ outfit. Luella is doing so well, and I’m definitely looking forward to seeing the stock hit stores shortly!

London Fashion Week Round-Up: DAY THREE.

London Fashion Week A/W 2009.

DAY THREE: Sunday 22nd February 2009.

Today saw designers such as Betty Jackson, Nicole Farhi, Christopher Kane, Richard Nicoll, Jaeger, PPQ, Twenty8Twelve and Aquascutum showcase their A/W collections…. Below are some of my highlights. Again, as you will see, the majority of designers are keeping their collections ‘safe’, to a minimal light (classic) colour palette, the direct response to the ‘dark’ cloud of the recession; the collections are wearable, during any season, and look forward to femininity.

Christopher Kane.

Christopher gives us a very sobre, dark, A/W collection. The majority of the collection is definitely eveningwear. Lots of sheer organza in a simple mix of creams, black and the odd stripey splash of metallic green/pink. A lovely timeless collection that endeavours to overcome the effects of the recession by cleverly keeping things classic, with Kane’s signature edge, perfect wardrobe staples!

Richard Nicoll.

picture-77

picture-78

picture-80

Richard Nicoll looks fast forward to SPRING for his A/W 09 collection. The show focussed on creams, beige, blushed pink and grey for a sophisticated collection that, again, could be worn in any season. Romantic tops and blouses meet high waisted smart tailoring. The edge is brought back to forefront with ‘upside down’ dresses, as seen in the photo above.

Betty Jackson.

I absolutely loved the Betty Jackson show. Very feminine, flattering shapes are cast throughout the collection, with particular emphasis on a cocoon style being added to skirts and trousers alike. The collection looks back at by gone era’s of the 50s with soft volume and a pastel palette, while the print and texture harps back at the 80s. With 25 years at LFW under her belt, Betty Jackson clearly just gets better and better with age.

Danielle Scutt.

picture-90

picture-92

picture-93

Danielle Scutt, like Ann-Sofie Back, looks forward to Hallowe’en and to the Vampires and Ghouls that roam the universe for her Gothic Chic A/W collection. The collection highly focusses on black and red with the odd zebra stripe of white. Velvet and PVC mix with cotton Jersey for a truly haunting connoction. I really liked the T-Shirt dresses but the rest of the collection is a bit humour filled, proving to everyone that we must not be so serious about the Credit Crunch – AGAIN! I look forward to seeing her next TOPSHOP collaboration however.
