I went to the 2010 BAFTA TV Awards on Sunday as a reporter for AllSaints. I headed down to the red carpet ready for all the stars of the small screen to arrive. Here’s what happened….
Friday 21st May 2010 – BAFTA’s Rehearsal – The Pelham Hotel, South Kensington.
So, as it happens, I never ever really wear black… But I thought wearing black would make me look sophisticated (and you need to be sophisticated for a BAFTA’s rehearsal). As it also happens, Friday 21st May turned out to be the hottest day on earth, EVER. I also, very rarely use the London Underground as I’m a cyclist. Hot weather+black+the underground= Hot and not so sophisticated!
I rocked up at The Pelham, in oh-so-posh South Kensington early morning. The Pelham is tres pretty and literally round the corner from South Kensington Tube. So as soon as I arrived I helped set up the AllSaints room and make up the goodie bags!
After finishing off the AllSaints room, I was ready for my first appointment, with MAC. I had a full face of make up done; a completely different look to what I normally go for! So that was a nice change! I got loads of great tips and tricks too;o Not to mention the amazing goodie bag of MAC treats I walked away with!
I then headed off to the Mark Hill suite to chat to his to head stylists (these guys have just changed the lovely Fearne Cotton into more of a brunette!).
So then it was back to the AllSaints suite for our appointments…
So make sure you watch the BAFTA TV awards to see all of this madness in action!
Alexander (The Great) McQueen CBE
16 March 1969 – 11 February 2010.
I am actually devastated by the news that Alexander (LEE) McQueen passed away today, aged just 40. It’s an absolute shock.
His death was announced this afternoon, 11 February 2010. McQueen was found dead at his London home and paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene. A statement released by his office on 11 February 2010 – referring to the designer by his given first name, Lee, read: “On behalf of Lee McQueen’s family, Alexander McQueen today announces the tragic news that Lee McQueen, the founder and designer of the Alexander McQueen brand, has been found dead at his home.”
McQueen’s death comes days before London Fashion Week, although McQueen was not scheduled to show in the British capital.
On 3 February 2010, he wrote on his Twitter page that his mother had died the day before, adding: “RIP mumxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.” Four days later he wrote that he had had an “awful week” but said “friends have been great“, adding: “now i have to some how pull myself together“.
Fashion has lost a legend today and the fashion world will be a less pretty world for it.
Long live McQueen.
Absolutely love the new AllSaints campaign imagery, so I thought I’d collate all the new images into one blog for ease of viewing. The shots look perfectly AllSaints, the photographer and editor have captured the brand perfectly!
My fave AW09 pieces are the ladies Damisi Military Boots, Mens Tread Boots (awaiting delivery), Mens Claxon Trousers/Blazer (awaiting delivery), Illume Tee (awaiting delivery); and of course, and the winter woolies! I’m really looking forward to Autumn to be able to wear it all. The weather is rubbish at the minute, so unpredictable! Thankfully layering is chic this season….
What are your favourite pieces from the campaign imagery/the new collection online?
Ms. Judy Pink.
